IDENTITY MAGAZINE -Breakups Breakdowns and Breakthroughs interview with Lisa Steadman

Stephanie Kathan interviews internationally acclaimed best-selling author, sought after speaker, co-host of Game Over TV, CEO of Woohoo, Inc and The Woohoo Radio Network Lisa Steadman about Relationships and the secret to staying empowered when going through a breakup as well as the dangers of playing the He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not game we allow ourselves to play when it comes to our happiness. In addition to the interview and In keeping with Identity’s mission of ‘Accept. Appreciate. Achieve™ we also asked Lisa the following questions- IDENTITY: What have you accepted in your life that took time, physically or mentally? LISA: Where do I begin?! For me, the biggest piece of self acceptance has been with my body. Having been an overweight child, then struggled with multiple eating disorders in my teens and early 20s, and finally landing in a space of emotional eating for a decade in adulthood, I've finally created a loving relationship with my body. Not every day is perfect, but by honoring myself as I am today, while striving to improve where I desire, I'm in a healthy, happy relationship with my body. IDENTITY: What do you appreciate about yourself and within your life? LISA: At 42, I'm having the most meaningful time of my life. In my 20s, I stressed about every little thing. In my 30s, I was reinventing. In my 40s, I love myself, have a meaningful marriage, find meaning in my work, make time for meaning outside of work daily. IDENTITY: What is one of your most rewarding achievements in life? What goals do you still have? LISA: Two years ago, my husband and I became instant full time foster parents to my then 13 month old niece. Having never wanted children, I struggled with my new role as a full time caretaker for a toddler. It didn't come naturally. And I resisted. Five months in, I recognized that my husband was having an entirely different experience raising this child. I'm most proud of my ability to see my shortcomings, reach out to my husband for help, and shift the way I was showing up for my niece. Within 24 hours of ME shifting, my relationship with her deepened immeasurably. Today, she's one of the loves of my life. IDENTITY: What is your not-so-perfect way? What imperfections and quirks create your Identity? LISA: I'm a sensitive artist type mixed with a ballsy, outgoing life of the party type. Sometimes I desperately need to be left alone to replenish with peace and quiet and sometimes I can't wait to rock the stage. Those who accept ALL of me love all of me. IDENTITY: How would you complete the phrase “I Love My…? LISA: I love my life. After spending a decade successfully branding multi-million dollar properties like Barbie while fumbling her way through romantic breakup after breakup, Lisa broke up with Corporate America and Mr. Wrong, built her own buzz worthy brand as THE Breakup Expert, became an instant best seller with her book It's a Breakup, Not A Breakdown, and met and married the love of her life. Today, Lisa owns her own consulting business, branding major companies, personalities, and businesses for a 2.0 world, as well as rebranding women who are ready to reinvent themselves in love, life, and business at any age.
